The books I highly recommend for most aspects of understanding your dog, ie training methods (crate, obedience), along with overall canine well - being (fear periods, submissive urination, nutrition, etc. ) from puppy through adulthood, are "Good Owners, Great Dogs" by Brian Kilcommons, and "The Art of Raising A Puppy, "by The Monks of New Skete." Invaluable reference books. Jeannie Fazio

I'm sending a post to cybercom about a great dachshund book. December of 95 there was a request from a Dr. Ackerman, a veterinarian, asking for photos of dachsies for a book that he was writing. He needed shots of dachsies socializing, playing, etc. Well I'd sent him 13 pics of Oscar -- they were of him as a puppy and then as an adult. Dr. Ackerman said if any of his photos were used for the publication he would send me a complimentary copy ---- yupe! I received it yesterday!!! What a great book! They're available directly from the website at http://www.family internet.com/pet/books.htm and only priced at $9.95 plus $2.95 shipping and handling. Ladies, I'm impressed with the book---it has up to date info on nutrition, health concerns, parasites, etc. It's a hardback, with a photo of a beautiful long-hair on the jacket.

Check it out! Oh, yes, BTW, Oscar's pictures are in there....2 of them...page 8 and page 75 with his ole companion, Mugsy, my doberman.
